I don’t quite know what’s going on, but I know it’s deranged and a little bit fucked up. There’s some Trent Reznor, Tom Waits, Dave Wyndorff, Eddie Vedder, John Congleton, Mike Patton, and Dave Grohl in Dennis R. Sanders's performance. Flamingo is enchanting, wild, dangerous, and unsettling in the Tarantino sense. It’s a thrilling, exhilarating roller coaster ride. . . with no seatbelts and loose-bolted structures creaking around every turn.

There’s such a Southwestern cheap hotel criminal feel. Vince Gilligan (creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) would be a fan. The charismatic lowlife vibe is so strong, there should almost be an honorary writing credit to Elmore Leonard. Or maybe add some credit to whiskey, pills, or the psych doctors involved.
“Who gave you permission to speak?”
Love or hate - - you put this EP on, and no one will be able to ignore it. The sounds and disturbances evoked throughout are absolutely fascinating to me. Unsettling and noisy, sure, but like a really good psychological thriller.
“Flamingo” is a trip. So much to unpack. It clocks in at about 22-23 minutes total in length, but feels like it contains way more material than that.
