Cleanbreak - Coming Home

Guitarist Mike Flyntz (Riot), Robert Sweet (Stryper), Perry Richardson (ex Firehouse, Stryper), Cleanbreak, really? Are we supposed to read into this, a dig? How about singer James Durbin from American Idol, and two albums with Quiet Riot. But, is this a band, project? Who knows what the future holds, especially being on Frontiers Records. Coincidentally, Michael Sweet (Stryper) also is part of another Frontiers band/project called Iconic, who also released an album in 2022. Any similarities, crossover in the music?

Clean guitars and a fade in begins 'Coming Home' with a classic Whitesnake-ish/Riot type riff and a pleasing flow into the chorus. Flyntz delivering a flurry of notes in the solo. Durbin a good voice for hard rock and metal who uses his range, without the typical screams. Darker riff on "Before the Fall" and twin guitar harmonies in the solo section. Modern Sevendust/Disturbed riff and rhythm for "'Dying Breed', 'Dream Forever'. "We Are The Warriors" back to more classic hard rock and chorus. 'Still Fighting' could have totally made a Riot album. 'The Pain of Goodbye' is not a ballad despite the title. Their namesake sounds like an Edguy arrangement and melody, 'Find My Way' a catchy mid tempo and contemporary melody with the twin leads.
Solid, enjoyable, and given the pedigree and label it sounds nothing like the Iconic album which is good.
