Elm - The Wait

Label: Bronson Recordings
Format: Download
Released: 2020
Reviewed By: Jack Mangan
Rating: 6.5/10

Good noisy stick-to-the-dots bar rock band with stars in their eyes.

Vox, drums, bass, 1 guitar, simple riffs and no-frills grooves throughout. Allusions to Joetown, LA Guns, Sisters of Mercy, Lou Reed, The Cult, Concrete Blonde, with some Punk Rock anger mixed with some of that classic Jim Morrison directionless pissed-off angst.
The first few songs feel a bit more controlled, sticking to single-notes and power chords, but the notes get a bit uglier, wilder, more chaotic in the middle and latter sections. The festivities begin with manners, but soon get impolite. This is a good thing.
Highlights: “Shell of a Man,” “A Storm is Coming,” and “Son;” the latter is the best on the record by a wide margin.
