Ozone Mama - Cosmos Calling

Label: Ripple Music
Format: download
Released: 2018

Dig. Influences of Led Zeppelin, Allman Bros, KWS, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton/Cream, Black Crowes, Computer vs. Banjo, Mountain, plus a gumbo of Hair Metal and Southern Rock sensibilities, with the vocal stylings of Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog-era Chris Cornell, mixed with Sammy Hagar and Glenn Hughes.

This is an easygoing set of tasty, crowd-pleasing tunes. The Allman Bros nod is made plain by the “Blue Sky”-reminiscent outro to the very-good first full band track, “Straight Through Til Morning.“ It’s preceded by the album opening instrumental, “Evil Ways,” which is a cool, mysterious-sounding swell of Indian instrumentation. Another highlight - - possibly the top highlight - - of Ozone Mama’s 2018, “Cosmos Calling” album, is “Feel So Alive,” which has a groovy beat that just won’t quit. “Doppelganger” and “High Ride” also bring some breezy, retro-70s Rock n’ Roll joy.
Check it out. This one is hard to dislike.
