Ok…if this album title is not influenced by Rob Zombie, then I don’t know what is. But, that’s fine, Lordi are basically a homage to theatrical shock rock/metal started by Cooper, Zombie, and Gwar. Eight albums in, an 80s sounding keyboard begins the catchy radio ready ‘Let’s Go Slaughter He-Man’ and the lyrics “I Wanna Be The Beast-Man In The Masters Of The Universe”. ‘Hug You Hardcore’ is a hybrid of early 2000’s Alice Cooper (“Brutal Planet”) and the industrial rhythms of Rob Zombie, an often formula additive of Lordi. ‘Down With The Devil’ again has a little of Zombie’s stylings with another 80s singable chorus and sound to the keys. A slower beat and sprinkling of the keyboard tones adds a dream-like state to ‘Mary Is Dead’, more retro keyboard for ‘None For One’.

Piano sets a different mood for ‘SCG VIII: Opening Scene”’ intro and the second half of the album, sounding a little darker and sinister leading into a heavier ‘Demonarchy’. ‘The Unholy Gathering’ continues this more metallic music and delivery, ‘Heaven Sent Hell On Earth’, ‘And The Zombie Says’ - creating a balance between metal riffing, backing keys with more of a King Diamond influence. Spooky keyboard melody finds its way into the swirling riff and drum beats ‘Break Of Dawn’. “Monstereophonic” clearly identifies its two parts, the sounds of 80s, 90s industrial, and heavy metal. Lordi celebrate those that came before them and for fans of those bands for the next generation.
