Sort of sad, a young talented, female-fronted US band with a pair of original releases under their belts, releasing a covers Ep to get attention. That said, there's actually just a trio of other peoples' music: W.A.S.P., Pat Benatar and Savatage. Of the three Mindmaze tunes, the title track was originally available on their sophomore full-length and the disc closes with a second version of 'Dreamwalker', featuring a duet with Urban Breed (ex-Tad Morose/ex-Bloodbound).

Speaking of male-female vocals, their take on the Tage's 'Strange Wings' (kudos for attempting early material!) also uses two singers. The Benatar cover ('Promises In The Dark') is played pretty straight, the changing dynamics instantly recognizable. The same can't be said of Blackie Lawless' 'Arena Of Pleasure', keyboards being the dominant instrument till the guitar fade-out. Apart from the acoustic rendition of 'Remember', a track from their Mask Of Lies debut, all the material is fleet-fingered power metal. The lone newbie 'Slave To The Cycle' fits nicely into the Mindmaze repertoire, active guitar verses and smooth, easy to sing chorus. The brother-sister combo is working hard in the Northeast, opening for many bigger names. Take a listen.
