If there can be not one, but two, movies called Hot Tub Time Machine, then I propose German Beer Garden Time Machine, as although Ranger are Finnish (on Spinefarm, duh!), they're the spitting image of young Teutonic thrashers Destruction, circa 1986 : ripping guitars and piercing yelp vocals. Lone exception is the 10-minute title cut, where the singer adopts a more modern, echoing/modulated tone, but the guitar tones and drums remain old school, to the max. Lyrical themes echo staples of that bygone era: nuclear warfare, the undead, Satan, etc.

The exaggerated. voiceless intro to ‘Defcon 1’ threatens, as if an instrumental, but it's just a fist pumping, riff-filled heads down start. A full-bore, seven song neck/brain and ear assault, there's a sinister streak of melody/guitar harmony stringing it all together. The guitar interplay on ‘Deadly Feast’ are more Bay Area thrash, while ‘Phantom Soldier’ is decidedly Germanic. The closing speedster, appropriately entitled ‘Storm Of Power’, is the shortest offering, at just 3:09. Wouldn't have wanted it to end any other way. Thrash or die!
