Mortal Infinity – District Destruction

With so many new band’s benefitting from the classic thrash resurgence (which is nice to see), Mortal Infinity while not offering anything really new for the genre, coming from Germany, having recorded at Sound Lodge Studios from Joerg Uken (God Dethroned, Dew-Scented, etc) does give their heavily Exodus (see ‘Thrill To Kill’, ‘At Dawn Of Death’ especially the rhythm guitars during the solo section) influenced approach a European feel at times. Being a young group of guys its expected contemporary thrashers like Lamb Of God would have an effect on ‘Wake Of Devastation’. But again, like several of these new names the music is killer but with the voice it’s a case of “I’ve heard this before”. Like with ‘Condemned Rising’, music is great, love the tempo changes, but don’t like the mixing of the low end guttural stuff with the screaming. Where are the Bobby Ellsworth (Overkill), Hetfield (Metallica), Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Joey Belladonna (Anthrax),Chuck Billy’s (Testament), even a Schmier from Destruction of this generation?

Including a short intro, eight pretty solid thrash tunes, but with no personality in the voice.
