The post-After Forever debut from ingénue Floor Jansen, accompanied on a trio of the 13 tunes by notable guests (well, as least two, outside of her Dutch homeland). Russell Allen (Symphony X) sings the duet ‘Sweet Curse’ with Jansen, while Soilwork frontman Björn ‘Speed’ Strid (Soilwork) appears on ‘Disdain’, the heaviest cut.

The album opens with ‘Here’s My Hell’, an operatic number reminiscent of Tarja Turunen’s tenure in Nightwish (with gritty/borderline death metal male counterpart, courtesy of ex-Orphanage grunter George Oosthoek). In that regard, it’s also similar to countrymen Epica. A symphonic /operatic /classical underpinning is evident throughout most of the disc, most notably the choir backed ‘Million’. At a mere four minutes, the ‘I Lost Myself’ finale is basically Jansen and a mournful piano.

ReVamped, but not quite amped enough.
