If only the title proves to be true. Sadly, I doubt it will be. Actually, this is two DVDs and a single CD, but how many times (different ways) is Eagle going to cut former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore’s appearances at the Swiss jazz festival? Between 1990 and 2001, Moore played Montreux five times, performing a mix of his solo material, as well as old blues standards. Over the last few years, almost annually, Eagle has re-issued some aspect of the visuals (second DVD) and/or audio portions of Moore’s various sets. Just last fall there was a six CD package, also utilizing "definitive" in its title (as previous multi-disc packages had hand-picked certain tracks from his body of work).

So we get different haircuts and amounts of sweat (depending upon the intensity of the song and where it is in the evening’s set). Of course Moore’s biggest solo tracks are present, including ‘Parisienne Walkways’ (from ’99), ‘Still Got The Blues’ (’95), the tune that launched a second (third?) career, ‘Out In The Fields’ and ‘Over The Hills And Far Away’, a song given new life by Nightwish. These four are also on the audio compilation.
A decent enough starter’s package, but really, the others have been too.
