Wearing the speedy Teutonic heritage proudly, ‘Newborn Tomorrow’ comes charging out of the gate. Lively follow-up ‘Book Of Life’ isn’t too far behind, a double bass underpinning as Laurin gets to strut his stuff. Despite all the keyboard help, it’s not until the third track where they dominate, the more Jorn/Astral Door hard rock oriented title track. Definitely more of the earlier velocity than the titular cut, but ‘Infinity’s Call’ sprinkles in a neo-classical flourish (as does the closing ‘Salvation’), but not a ballad in the bunch.
A welcome newcomer for fans of traditional German melodies (like myself). Happy 2010!
