Apparently Slagel and/or his industry spies must be spending a lot of time in and around Montreal, having recently signed these guys, as well as fellow French Canucks, Aeternam. Great White North website AbsoluteUnderground.ca described Barn Burner as, "If Steve Harris moved to Montreal, started eating poutine and joined Corrosion of Conformity I’d imagine it would sound a lot like this." Intriguing enough for a listen!

The lyrics are a bit too tongue-in-cheek for the Iron Maiden bassist, but musically, Barn Burner adopt a rollicking stoner attitude, with a sense of urgency (only three of the eleven cuts exceed four minutes and the concluding ‘Old Habits’ is but 1:43). Who else could pen a sludgy ‘Beer Today, Bong Tomorrow’ or ‘Holy Smokes’? Truthfully the statement should be if Iommi moved to Montreal…, as the music owes more to classic rock than NWOBHM, with only ‘Wizard Island’ belaboring the pace.
