Despite lifting their signature from an Iron Maiden classic, musically, they bear no resemblance to the well-known Brits, opting for a more USA AOR agenda (think Journey, accent on the guitar, or Foreigner after the initial trio of album). Could do without the good-natured Broadway style ‘An Illusion’ (can almost see the smiling/dancing actors making hand motions towards the sun). Tasty instrumental ‘Mad Antenna’ stands out, sort of a Satriani/Vai ‘Flying In A Blue Dream’ vibe. ‘Just Wanna Be With You’ picks up a similar guitar tone (Gary Hoey?) mixed with Cali bubblegum beach anthem. Hammond organ gives ‘Let Go’ an old British hard rock feel. The concluding ‘Digging’, with Steely Dan piano, is about as far afield from the metallic opening as one can get.
Given his whole life to come up with a debut, Enevoldsen needs a little more focus, which should be the case on album #2.
