Norway’s Jorn Lande has been around for a while (Ark, Masterplan, etc.) but only recently started getting his due on these shores. A classic 70s-styled, hard rock voice, cut from the Dio/Gillan mold, the nine tracks herein do nothing to dissuade the comparison: bluesy and mid-tempo. As the man himself admits in the promo literature, “When you buy a Jorn album, you know what you get.” ‘Burn Your Flame’ would be a good upbeat Whitesnake track, while the acoustic tinged ballad ‘Rock N Roll Angel’ utilized synthesizer and some tasty licks. The same can’t be said of a pedestrian ‘City In Between’, with its chime accents. Rather weak. On ‘World Gone Mad’, the Norwegian channels the spirit of Thin Lizzy’s late Phil Lynott, which ain’t a bad thing in my book. Judge this tome by its cover and buy.
