You’d think guitarist Galder would get his fill defacing Christianity while being a part of the satanic Dimmu Borgir family, but no chance.  The title track leads the blasphemous charge on the Old Man’s seventh release with more of Galder’s ominous riffing backed by complimenting haunted orchestrations.  A similar entity and could be the sister to Dimmu.

Throughout the course of nine tracks, Galder while writes music that’s in a similar style to Dimmu, utilizing a voice at his disposal that is more guttural than Shagrath.  Also, when composing, Galder pays very well attention to the balance between the orchestral/keyboard parts (where the melodies come from) and the blasting rhythms on a track like ‘The Crimson Meadows’.  Brutal and apocalyptic in sound, like brethren Dimmu (keyboards on ‘Unholy Foreign Crusade’ are very “Enthrone Darkness Triumphant” and the lead melody work is very sweet).  “Path Of Destruction” is excellent with its dramatic opening movement and militant march and I actually wish it was just instrumental.   ‘The Spawn Of Lost Creation’ incinerates “the good book” with a slowed down riff and rhythm changes throughout.  And for ‘On The Devil's Throne’ I could say the same things, and what a great title.

If could get past, understand, or appreciate the voice, then Old Man’s Child are one of the more dynamic names in Black Metal.
