Magica – Wolves & Witches

Fourth album from Romanian power metal band Magica featuring vocals by Ana Mladinovici. The album has ten tracks which include one slow song and one instrumental.

Overall, there are some good melodies in the songs and the band members certainly have a fair amount of talent. However, except for the slow song, I thought the vocal delivery lacked variation and emotion. The song structures seemed a bit predictable and just didn’t have much punch to them. Sub-optimal production qualities didn’t help their cause either.

I recommend looking elsewhere for female-fronted metal, such as Delain, Epica or After Forever.
