The Hellacopters - Rock & Roll is Dead

Label: Liquor and Poker
Format: CD
Released: 2006
Reviewed By: Kevin Alba

Upon hearing the first sound of guitar on album opener 'Before the Fall' legendary guitarist Chuck Berry immediately comes to mind. As things go on the sound is very in the vein of 1960’s classic rock with a vocal delivery bringing the likes of the Hive and the Vines. The band is a side project featuring Backyard Babies co-founder Dregen and Entombed’s Ricke “Royale” Andersson. 'Everything’s On T.V.' is a very catchy tune reminding me of early 1970’s Alice Cooper.

The entire album pretty much follows the same formula with influences reminding me of The Rolling Stones and the Dave Clark Five along with the previously mentioned Chuck Berry and Alice Cooper. The band has opened for the likes of Kiss, The Rolling Stones, and the Foo Fighters in Europe.

Nothing ground breaking here but an enjoyable listen if you are a fan of classic rock & roll.
