The Crown – Possessed 13

Label: Metal Blade
Format: CD
Released: 2003
Reviewed By: Rich Catino
Packaged like a poster for a Hammer Horror film is the latest by The Crown, creating music that is brutal and aggressive while including some catchy riffs and leads.

For example, “Deliverance” utilizes riff and tempo changes to off set the constant pounding of drums and gut wrenching vocals by Johan Lindstrand. The vocals are hard to digest though have clarity to the roughness, and in a sense is done intentionally for this type of music. “Dream Bloody Hell” is slower paced instrumental and breaks up the monotony heard. “Bow to None” is the lesser in aggression with a little more melody to the verses and guitar leads.

“Kill Em All” has a delivery very reminiscent to old school speed metal and once or twice ironically I hear old Metallica.

Artwork is done in black and white with splashes of red and the booklet is set up like chapters on a DVD. Also included is bonus material which includes several demo tracks.
