U.D.O. - Nailed to Metal (Special Boxset)

Label: AFM Records
Format: DVD/CD
Released: 2003

Starting with the DVD portion we get the Live concert footage from the first U.D.O. Live in Russia cd release. The picture is very sharp and sound is strong with almost no crowd noises during songs, as the same thing goes for the cd version. Concert footage includes classic Accept tunes “Midnight Mover” and I’m a Rebel”, and lead singer UDO in classic camouflage pants. His voice still sounds great and after 20 years has not lost his distinctive tone. He combines music from both Accept and his solo material, with basically the solo work a direct extension of the Accept sound. If you don’t believe me then check out “Raiders of Beyond” (on both the cd and DVD) and tell me that is not classic Accept!

DVD also features behind the scenes footage, photogallery, a complete biography, and video clips. The discography has a feature that other artists should include; all the covers, lyrics and audio samples from each release, a very cool feature which actually is also included on Accept’s DVD. You also get bonus unreleased audio tracks from several of the U.D.O. solo albums.

The Live cd by the same name, features a couple tracks from the DVD plus other gems like “Fast as a Shark”, “Princess of the Dawn”, and “Balls to the Walls” as well as X-T-C from Accept’s “Eat the Heat”. A solid Live album and great to have all the other tracks the were not included on “Live in Russia”.

Whether you get the DVD or cd they are both worth it, especially the DVD being very comprehensive and complete for the U.D.O. fan.
