From Norway 's snowy dark forests, Gorgoroth are one of the true soldiers of pure blasphemous Black Metal and also, one of the anti Christian bands who had a member associated with the infamous church burnings In Europe. A stereotype this genre of music has been well documented being synonymous with.

With evil demonic vocals, Satyricon's Frost on drums and driving guitar riffs this seventh album is their strongest. A track like “Carving a Giant” demonstrates how things should be done as a constant fast delivery is not necessary to get your point across when creating Black Metal music. Neither is it always across the board the only element to Black Metal. Drum beats and riff changes add feeling while occult and nothing less than satanic. Its important for music of this nature to have variety to its arrangements because who wants to hear the same beat for every song? Plus anything you can do to add and expand the feeling you are trying to convey can only be beneficial.

Signature machine gunning guitar leads and Bathoryesque mid tempo rhythms also are part of Gorgoroth evident on “Sign of an Open Eye”. The clean vocals are a nice touch and a compliment overall. “White Seed” on the other hand has a different sound then the other tracks up to this point. It has a primitive delivery with drums and guitars very tingy in sound as if it was recorded in another studio. The track really going back to the earlier sounds of Black Metal when most production qualities were not so polished.

If you like Gorgoroth's music this will surely please. If this is not your bag, it still wont be. It is what it is and God, nor Jesus, are welcome.
